SG NextTrain - Interface prototype
Lovely piece of interaction design. Sweat the little stuff. It will make you great!
iOS developers TwoLivesLeft have created a touch based coding app for the iPad, something which is now allowed since Apple relaxed their App Store rules.
It even comes with a selection of pre-sets to play about with.
Nice!
Cadbury AR Spots vs. Stripes game
This is quite a cool release from Cadbury using Blippar. The game uses image recognition of its chocolate bars to bring the games to life on your Android or iPhone.
A great marketing strategy and good finesse to the production.
It’s not very often that you see a TVC that promotes a Facebook app so it was very exciting to see this latest Doritos integrated campaign offering from the UK. First of all the TVC is fun to watch and tells a moving story of the rise and fall of Esteban Ortega, a professional Dorito flicker. The short film style TVC closes on a call to action that drives the user to a supporting gaming element which can be played through Facebook or through a mobile device, both iOS and Android.
Check out the Facebook game here. It’s a pretty simple idea but is executed nicely and let’s users see how they compare to their Facebook friends, and as with the best simple games, it’s also pretty dam addictive. Interestingly, the advergame is also available on iPhone and Android… The campaign was created by AMV BBDO.
Augmented reality fodder. This new engine allows developers to create ‘cutting-edge’ AR experiences on any iOS device. The above video is the showcase from Thursday’s launch in london.

Prototypes: Bring your mockups to life
The Prototypes app is a Mac App Store only program for bringing your iPhone scamps to life.
How well do these published prototypes function? The developers provide a sample working prototype that has been exported from the app, here is how you can try it out yourself:
- Go to http://ptyp.es from an iOS device
- Follow the onscreen instructions to bookmark the prototype URL to your iOS homescreen
- Enter PIN: 1467 5639
You’ll now be in a working app mockup of a fictitious ‘Garden Snap’ iPhone application, touch on elements and you’ll get a new screen demonstrating features just as you’d expect. Some things don’t seem to work, like scrolling through lists, but remember this is a UI/UX mockup viewed in Safari, not a full fledged working iOS application.
Its a great idea for iPhone developers and designers.
Now, my only gripe, and this is of course a my personal view, is the price tag - at $39.99. Its not loads of money, but app store programs are generally a little cheaper in my eyes. Still a great program non-the-less.

iOS UI Patterns
Following on from this post a few months ago, I’ve stumbled across this great collection of iOS patterns.
Check it out, it can only be of use.
Cheers Josh.
