Chase No Face / BELL
Love this song and video from Olga Bell.
As mentioned no post-production effects were used in this video. Everything on the face is happening in real-time, via hacked Kinect, laptop and LED projector. It’s built using FaceTracker code from Jason Saragih.
Björk: Biophilia
Biophilia is an extraordinary and innovative multimedia exploration of music, nature and technology by the musician Björk. Comprising a suite of original music and interactive, educational artworks and musical artifacts, Biophilia is released as ten in-app experiences that are accessed as you fly through a three-dimensional galaxy that accompanies the album’s theme song Cosmogony. All of the album’s songs gradually become available inside Biophilia as interactive experiences, beginning with the first single Crystalline.
A mesmerising free app.
The Polyphonic Spree - Bullseye
Their first release of their new album also comes with an interactive iPad app music video which is a character based narrative.
Its such a simple and pretty looking application. Cant help but think they are limiting their fan base though, unless they bring out a non-interactive version.
Probably the best projection mapping I’ve seen.
Amon Tobin’s new ‘ISAM’ show shows off that it can really do.
When great minds get together to create a masterpiece.
Awe-inspiring.
Music Hunter
This app is a neat way of finding music on your iPad.
A visual mosaic of album covers makes it easy to navigate and also includes social integration (a given these days).

OscilloScoop for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch
A great fun visual music creation app. I really like the simple look and feel of this, it also seems to have a lot of functionality which most music apps of this visual calibre do not.
Love this video by director and animator André Chocron for Cold Mailman. Kind of mesmerising.
Great idea, and great execution.

How Does it Work?
Octaves and Notes make up the two types of nodes. Octaves pulse and send messages to Notes within proximity. Each Octave is assigned a random octave and each Note, a random note; therefore, a Note will play in several octaves depending on the Octave it’s connected to. Pause nodes to create your own beats or let them roam free to have them generate their own.
It even interacts with multiple devices.
Now, if only I had an iPad…

Anatomy of a mashup

A mashup is a song created by blending two or more other songs. The more complex a mashup gets, the harder it is to distinguish the parts that are being used to create what you’re hearing.
This visualisation of the song “Definitive Daft Punk” by Cameron Adams dissects a mashup in realtime to show you how each of the 23 parts contributes to the greater whole.
Based upon the latest HTML5 and CSS3, each song is represented by a unique colour resulting in a real-time visualization of the song’s waveform and spectrum.
Awesome I say.
Cannes: YouTube Interactive Music Machine
The Cannes Lions creative challenge “YouTube Good Work” entries have been submitted and it’s great to see some really innovative ideas being developed to help such good causes. This one caught our eye as it incorporates a very simple concept with a new twist to create something fun.
Your keyboard becomes the controller, with keys 2 to 8 triggering different sounds.
Very cool.
